Black Deer Festival 2022

As long-standing client Library Productions’ crewing company of choice, Showforce was asked to provide stage crew to this year’s Black Deer Festival. Held at Eridge Park in Kent from 17th-19th June the popular Americana and Country music festival returned after a three-year hiatus due to the pandemic.

On-site for seven days, a team of up to 15 crew, including a crew boss and forklift driver, assisted throughout build, show days and de-rig. Split into departments the Showforce crew were split across multiple stages and initially focussed on unloading, distributing and installing rigging, lighting, and audio equipment. Crew also assisted in the distribution and assembly of backline materials and risers and the assembly of mojo barriers site wide.

During show days, the Showforce crew were split across four stages and operated as stagehands under the direction of a stage manager. Conducting stage turnarounds and assisting artists with loading/unloading of each act’s equipment, including loading FOH materials and running cables.

Load out for the festival began during the afternoon of the 19th June, with crew collecting backline materials from various stages and loading them onto a waiting truck. After the last act finished on the main stage, a full de-rig of lighting and rigging commenced site wide. Additional support was given to audio via a telehandler driver at the main stage and the load out was completed the following morning.  The crew also assisted with the assembly of mojo barriers site wide.
