A large team of highly experienced Showforce crew was onsite at Dubai’s Sevens Stadium for almost two weeks for the build, show days and de-rig of the Ed Sheeran’s hugely popular Mathematics tour. The crew worked alongside the team at All Things Live Middle East, Coca Cola Arena, Dubai Calendar, Ed Sheeran’s touring team and multiple suppliers.
With its mammoth 360 circular stage and rotating LED screen, six 30-metre-high masts made from 7.5 tonnes of truss and 55 tonnes of suspended kit that includes lights, speakers and screens, it was a complicated technical build that Showforce’s skilled crew were more than able to tackle, supporting the numerous suppliers involved.
Almost 60,000 concert goers attending the gig across the two nights so there was also a significant amount of site work required to ensure the venue was prepared and safe to access. Showforce’s site crew were able to assist with the installation of fences, crowd barriers, gantries and other general duties required by the event’s production team.
Showforce’s crew numbers peaked on 18th and 19th January with 72 and 124 crew onsite respectively each day. As you would expect on a project of this size and scale, requirements change and the operations team was able to adapt and increase numbers accordingly in a short space of time. In total 418 man days were amassed by the Showforce crew, with the team onsite for 12 days.
“I wanted to take a quick moment to express my sincere thanks and gratitude to you all for the amazing service and support which allowed ATL and myself to deliver without doubt the best concert Dubai has seen. Feedback from ES Tour management is that Dubai has set the bar very high for all the other stops on the Asian tour and that is down to all of you and your team members for providing amazing structures, Audio LX solutions and lots of LED… and a few generators to run it all, and let’s not forget the hardworking crew and labour.”
