Waterbomb success for Showforce
When Waterbomb made its Middle East debut this summer, Showforce’s crew was on-hand to provide logistical support to A Loud Minority, the event’s production company. Waterbomb has become one of Korea’s most popular music festivals, known for its thrilling combination of live music and water-based entertainment. The Dubai edition featured top names in EDM, K-pop, and more, attracting a large crowd eager to enjoy the summer festivities. The festival was perfectly timed to offer a refreshing escape from the heat, combining music, dance, and a gigantic water fight.
Held at Dubai Festival City on Friday 7th and Saturday 8th June 8, 2024, Showforce was onsite for fifteen days, split across day and night shifts, to assist with the event’s load in, show days and de-rig.
The standout element of the event is over 40 high-pressure water cannons capable of blasting water up to 30 metres. The cannons were supplied by Blaze, a Korean special effects company. A dedicated team of Showforce crew installed the water cannons, connecting them to both the water and electricity supplies.
Additional responsibilities included laying astro turf; installing pit and crowd control barriers across the site to ensure crowd safety; setting-up various tents for catering concessions, vendors, wristband collection etc. and supporting Aggreko with running in power cables.
Commenting on the delivery of Waterbomb, account manager Ann Dacumos said: “Waterbomb is a fantastic example of how Showforce’s multi-skilled crew and experienced crew can be deployed site wide to assist with a broad range of tasks. Meticulous planning from our operations team ensured we had a core team of crew and crew chiefs in place to meet the client’s requirements.”
