Showforce deliver crew for stage adaptation of Grandpa’s Great Escape
No strangers to working within Liverpool’s M&S Banking Arena as the incumbent crewing supplier, the Showforce team was asked to work on something slightly different this January, in the first stage adaption of David Walliams’ children’s book Grandpa’s Great Escape.
Working for longstanding client Phil McIntyre Entertainment, more than 40 crew, a crew chief and a forklift driver assisted with the load in, install, derig and load out of the arena spectacular which proved incredibly popular with the bestselling book’s army of fans. The Showforce crew worked across the lighting, sound and audio visual equipment departments. included the invarious departments including Lighting, sound and AV.
They were also tasked with helping build the stage, the set was created by entertainment architects Stufish Productions who’ve worked with huge performers including Beyonce, Jay Z and Madonna. The stage design incorporates many of London’s famous landmarks, including Buckingham Palace and the River Thames, from thousands of feet in the sky, as Grandpa’s life size Spitfire soars through the air.
420 man hours were amassed by the Showforce crew on this event.
