HARRODS’ CHRISTMAS DISPLAY
Showforce provided crew to long-standing client Mark Bannister who was working project and production directing the Loro Piana takeover of Harrods for the Christmas 2024 season on behalf of Sculptivate.
The impressive display saw high end brand Loro Piana narrating its history through 36 windows, two pop-ups and over 30tonnes of illuminated decorations installed on the Brompton Road façade of the world-famous department store. It featured goats floating on cashmere clouds, little flocks of sheep, old-fashioned wooden mills and bales of wool.
Our crew assisted with both the installation prior to Christmas and returned for the de-rig in January.
Tasks included:
- Unloading and arranging the elements of the display i.e. the different sized stars, wool bales, cogs and all-important Christmas tree
- Crew, including plant operators supporting the preparation and loading of the decorations at Sculptivate’s Aylesbury warehouse
- Carrying out traffic management of vehicles and plant equipment at the start and end of each shift
- Unloading the individual window frame sets and supporting the Sculptivate team with their installation
- Building and installing truss over door areas in preparation for them being cladded with Loro Piana’s branding
The number of crew onsite varied between 4 and 100 with all carried out overnight when the store was closed. In total 950 man hours were amassed by the Showforce team.
