Leading UAE agency, Action Impact appointed Showforce to assist with the delivery of Dubai Parks and Resorts Grand Opening ceremony when it was held on 18th December 2016. The remarkable show included dancers and characters from all three of the resorts theme parks, 50 LED drones in formation flight, custom-made puppets of the park ambassadors on a complex flying system and a stunning firework display all performed on a huge stage, built specifically for the ceremony on the lagoon in the middle of the park.
Showforce teams including crew, six follow spot operators and wardrobe staff, were deployed to the site every day from the 5th December until the de-rig of the show. The crew amassed over 3000 man hours supporting rehearsal teams with entries and props and rehearsed how they would assist with the show on the day. Another team dealt with the install of fireworks, fencing, stage decor and general assistance around the site. With an average of 18 crew on site every day, Action Impact requested over 65 crew to support the install and de-rig on the show day.
The technical operators rehearsed how they would operate follow spots on the show day and the wardrobe team managed all things wardrobe-related on site, including sourcing all costumes required – this could be having them made, bought, hired or borrowed, fittings and costume changes and amendments.
Ahead of the Opening Ceremony on 13th November, Showforce provided a team of crew and electricians to assembled audio equipment and cabling at MOTIONGATE. Another team assisted Paragon on-site, their primary task was building around the core structures, including houses, artificial trees, gates, fences, LED cannons and the entrance exits for rollercoasters.
Over 200 performers performed at the opening ceremony. There was a dance troupe from a local Indian dance academy, who finished their rehearsals ahead of schedule and went on to put on a show for our staff ahead of the show day.
